From Every Step to Every Stitch: Supporting NICU Families Through Community
At March for Miracles, every act of kindness begins with a story — and this one started with a run.
This spring, our family proudly participated in the Wings for Life World Run event hosted at LA Fitness, raising funds to support NICU babies and their families. What made this moment even more meaningful was seeing our daughters, Diya and Isha, continue a mission that is deeply personal to our family.
Born at just 24 weeks, Diya and Isha spent months in the NICU fighting for their lives. The compassion, care, and dedication shown by NICU nurses and medical teams during that journey left a permanent impact on us. Today, through March for Miracles, we strive to give back to families walking that same difficult road.
Turning Community Support Into Care
Thanks to the generosity of supporters at the Wings for Life World Run event, we were able to donate NICU baby outfits and supplies to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center RiverBend.
The donation included carefully selected premature baby clothing designed specifically for tiny NICU fighters — bringing comfort not only to babies, but also hope and encouragement to families during some of their hardest days.
A Special Visit to RiverBend
Seeing the donation arrive at the NICU was incredibly emotional for our family. The team at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center RiverBend welcomed the donation with open arms, and it was a reminder of how much compassion exists within NICU communities everywhere.
We were especially touched to receive photos and video from the hospital showing the donation being received by the NICU staff. Moments like these remind us that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.
Young Hearts Leading the Mission
At the LA Fitness event, Diya and Isha also shared information about March for Miracles, displayed handmade crochet octopuses and NICU hats, and connected with members of the community about the importance of supporting premature babies and NICU families.
Their passion comes from lived experience. What began as their own NICU journey has now grown into a mission to uplift other families facing uncertainty, fear, and long hospital stays.
